About Kilsyth

Kilsyth is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 32 km east from Melbourne's central business district (CBD). Without traffic, it’s a 45 mins drive in to center of Melbourne. 

It has 3 train stations close by: Mooroolbark, Croydon & Ringwood East which are located on the Lilydale Train line. An all stops train trip in to Flinders St Station takes 45 mins.

Kilsyth is only a 5-10 minute drive to the edge of Mount Dandenong. This is definitely a suburb for families, individuals & couples that love nature!

  • SkyHigh in Mount Dandenong: SkyHigh Mount Dandenong and restaurant is located on top of Mount Dandenong at 26 Observatory Road.   • Miss Marple's Tearoom: This quaint restaurant plays homage to the memory of Agatha Christie's novel character Miss Marple & prides itself on its tea, scones, ploughman’s lunch & home made pies. 

The suburb was originally named after Kilsyth in Scotland & it lies on cleared land which was originally used for orchards. The Post Office opened on 22 November 1900. The first school opened in April 1910, and is now known as Kilsyth Primary School.

There are two main shopping precincts in Kilsyth, Churinga Shopping Centre and Kilsyth Shopping Centre. Smaller shopping strips are located on Colchester Road, Collins Place, and Hawthory Road. 

The Elizabeth Bridge Reserve on Durham Road provides a playground, lake, and community centre. There are many other parks and reserves throughout the suburb & it is home to a range of sporting teams and facilities.
